Pre-requisites for the SE training

To join the SE training there are a few criteria you have to fulfill…

Introduction Workshop

All participants in the SE training must have attended a two-day introduction before starting the course. Click here to learn about the introduction workshop.

Our participants come from diverse backgrounds, such as psychologists, social workers, bodyworkers, massage therapists, physical therapists, nurses, physicians, chiropractors, clergy, etc.

Regulatory Body

We require that an applicant be a member of a professional and regulatory body with a code of ethics and disciplinary procedure, and have an active practice. Exceptions are made for students of a recognised therapeutic training.

We accept applicants from the following fields of practice:

  • Mental Health Professionals: psychologists, psychiatrists, psychoanalysts, psychotherapists, social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists, expressive arts therapists, etc.

  • Medical and Alternative Medicine Professionals: medical doctors, nurses and nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors, emergency medical workers, surgeons, obstetricians, midwives, acupuncturists, naturopathic doctors, etc.

  • Bodyworkers: massage therapists, Rolfers®, Craniosacral and Polarity therapists, Feldenkrais practitioners, yoga therapists, etc.

  • Others: first responders, crisis center staff, educators, mediators, clergy, chaplains, etc.

Applicants who are not practitioners may be accepted depending on their individual circumstances.

Personal Process

All applicants proceed with the understanding that this training is designed to train professionals in helping clients deal with trauma and is not intended to be a personal self-help course. However, due to the nature and depth of this work personal trauma may be triggered.. For this reason a minimum of 15 personal sessions are required for certification.

Strongly Recommended

We advise experiencing a minimum of three SE sessions before beginning your training. This will give you a foundation of self-regulation and offer experiential insights into the methodology of SE.

Application

All trainees must have completed an application form that includes:

  • A personal CV

  • Two professional references

  • Proof of membership of a profesional body

  • A photograph

  • A short piece illustrating your interest in working with trauma

Our trainings are often over subscribed but all applications will be considered on an individual basis. Submitting an application does not guarantee being offered a place.
