SE London Training – Beginning 1 with Abi Blakeslee
Dec 7 – Dec 12 all-day

The Beginning Year of the 3 year London SE™ training will be taught by Abi Blakeslee, an SE trainer and faculty member of The Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute and Foundation for Human Enrichment. 

She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical and Somatic Psychology and is a licensed marriage and family therapist. Her dissertation, with a committee that included Dr. Daniel Siegel, generated original research on the role of implicit memory in healing trauma.

Dr. Blakeslee integrates SE with clinical research, secondary trauma interventions, and the psychobiological principles of attachment and shock trauma. She treats individuals, couples, children and families in her clinical practice.

Dr. Blakeslee teaches and consults world wide. Dr. Blakeslee has ongoing online individual and group case consultations for all levels of Somatic Experiencing students and SEPs (www.abiblakeslee.com).

She is involved with developing and implementing evidence-based SE research with non-tribal and tribal communities in rural Montana for the prevention of secondary trauma.

She lives in Montana, USA, with her husband and enjoys the snow, mountains, and rivers with her three young children.

The first year of the training will cover the following:

  • Understand the physiological basis of trauma.
  • Learn about containment, resourcing and empowerment.
  • Study tracking skills, titration and establishing continuity through the felt sense.
  • Practice establishing defensive orienting responses, completion and discharge.
  • Explore coupling dynamics, the elements of internal experience (SIBAM), and integrating experiential polarities, in order to restore creative self-regulation.
  • Be able to identify, normalize, and stabilize traumatic reactions.
  • Attain skills to avoid pitfalls of re-traumatization and false memory.
  • Learn to uncouple fear from immobility; re-establish and maintain healthy boundaries.
  • Investigate the transformative qualities of trauma.
  • Integrate trauma work into ongoing therapy.
  • Acquire short-term solutions to acute and chronic symptoms.

Course Fees

The fee for each year of the 3 year training is £3360 (Inc VAT)

Giselle Genillard Giselle Genillard, the director of SOSI, will lead this introduction to Somatic Experiencing (SE). Over the two days you will learn the fundamental principles of SE and acquire some tools that you can apply in your personal and professional lives. 

Please Note: If you are wanting to enroll on our 3 year professional Somatic Experiencing training  then a pre-requiste for this is that you must attend a 2-day introduction workshop.

SE Edinburgh Training – Intermediate 2 with Lael Keen @ Edinburgh
May 8 – May 13 all-day

The Intermediate Year of the 3 year Edinburgh SE™ training will be taught by Lael Keen, a senior SE trainer and faculty member from Brazil. 

Lael is an Advanced level Instructor of Somatic Experiencing® for the S.E.® Trauma Institute and a founding member of the A.B.T. (Associação Brasileira do Trauma—the Brazilian SE Association).

She has been a Rolfer since 1984 and teaches Rolfing and Rolf Movement for the Rolf Institute. Lael holds a 5th degree black belt in Ki-Aikido and is a teacher of both Ki-Aikido and Shin Shin Toitsu Do—Mind and Body Coordination, certified by the Ki Society International in Tokyo Japan.

She teaches in the US and Brazil and around the world, for both the Rolf Institute and the SE Trauma Institute. She is currently completing her internship in Art Therapy and lives in the Brazilian rainforest with her husband (also an SE teacher) and her daughter.

Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP)

A professional training with Dr Raja Selvam for increasing clinical effectiveness by integrating more body energy and consciousness into any psychological process. 

Drawing from Western and Eastern psychology, scientific research on the neurology and physiology of psychological experiences, empirical research from body psychotherapy schools, and bodywork, movement, and energy work traditions, Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP) offers, through theory and practice, experienced clinicians with prior psychological and somatic training a master training (of 12 days taught in three four­-day modules) in how to further increase one’s clinical effectiveness considerably, through helping clients to embody more levels of their psyche.

SE London Training – Intermediate 1 with Doris Rothbauer

The Intermediate Year of the 3 year London SE™ training will be taught by Doris Rothbauer, an SE trainer and faculty member of The Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute and Foundation for Human Enrichment. 

Image result for doris rothbauerDoris Rothbauer is a licensed psychotherapist working as a teacher and trainer in different countries as well as in private practice in Munich for more than 20 years. She started training with Peter Levine in 1998, deepened her understanding in many years of assistance and clinical practice, and is now part of SETI faculty teaching SE trainings in Germany and other European countries.

Originally trained in communication and cognitive psychology, also holding a trainer certificate in NeuroLinguistic Programming (Dr. Christina Hall), she used to teach professional workshops for social institutions in leadership, teambuilding, communication, conflict resolution and self-management skills.
For her clinical education she studied Ericksonian Hypnosis (Ernest Rossi, Jeffrey Zeig), body-oriented psychotherapy, attachment theory and developmental psychology. She also completed the educational training in NARM (Dr. Lawrence Heller) as well as in Neuroaffective Developmental Psychology (Dr. Susan Hart and Marianne Bentzen). In both these fields she is supervising and conducting introductory workshops Her personal and professional stance to life is grounded in meditation and awareness practice. As SE teacher her focus is on creating an environment that inspires people to venture into new learning territory with alertness, curiosity and joy and thus supporting social engagement and connection.
